Materialism

It is a small word
with a lot of meaning.
Material is preferred
but only if we are leading, 
The world with our wealth
the home with our greed.
If we can only fuel our health
fill our sensations of need.

We all say money is not everything
its only a portion of life.
Yet it helps us bring
in that beautiful wife,
To enjoy that life with
supposedly
But many believe it is a myth
for it comes and goes before we can see,
That the end is near
the happiness almost gone
It is our own fault we fear
and by the end, it is our soul that has withdrawn.

The Transcendentalists don't speak of this word with much value
the fact is, they really don't want to know how to.
They live life in an unusual way
to the normal being
yet it is the other words that they say
which keep us breathing,
looking, searching, striving to be better
than the person before us
our friend, our brother.

They influence our minds
they question our views.
All for the benefit of mankind's
individual success that one pursues.
These men are here to stop us
in our tracks.
Before the world becomes corrupt
and there is no longer the option to relax.

Their ideas stray far away from the norm
but they fail to succumb to the standard form.
It is their ideas that would make this place so pure,
but a refusal to change 
means that this place is not pure
for that word- material- makes it ever so sure.
